No. of Pages : 199
REVIEW 14/2021.
Somehow, I was drawn to poetry books for the last few months. I think it
started after I bought More Than Words, by Zack Shah. I found the words
beautiful and mesmerizing. So, I bought a book by Lang Leav and this book,
which is a compilation by Popular.
However, I must say that I am a bit disappointed with this purchase.
Though the title said 100 love poems I must read before I die, I will not
regret if I didn’t read it. The poems are indeed by renowned poets with the
likes of Rumi, Kahlil Gibran, William Shakespeare and Emily Dickinson. Perhaps
it’s the way the poems are written – using typewriter fonts – that makes them
lost the soul. After mid-read, I already felt bored and wanted to ditch the
book but I kept reading anyway, hoping that I could be interested in the other
poems.
This book seems like a half-hearted effort made for sake of compiling
the best poems. Some of them were not even love poems. They are more of
broken-hearted poems.
Once I closed the book, I didn’t feel the tug in my heart like the way I
felt after I have read Zack Shah's. I guess, the font and appearance of a book do
play a role in catching the attention of the reader.
In view of the above, I give this book ONE 🌞 star.
